“They chose to come with us”

The Social Democratic Party signed a collaboration protocol with four union leaders from Satu Mare. The announcement was made by the PSD president, Mircea Govor, during a press conference. According to the social-democratic leader, the trade unionists came alongside his party to support the rights of employees.

Four local leaders, three of whom were present at the press conference organized today by PSD Satu Mare, signed a collaboration protocol with social democrats, valid for next month’s local elections. Govor announced that he received the support of the four for his candidacy for the position of president of the County Council and the candidacy of Radu Roca for the position of mayor of the municipality of Satu Mare.

“I want to thank the gentlemen from the unions in Satu Mare from the bottom of my heart. Today they came with us and we will give a very clear message, after we talked with them and signed protocols of collaboration and support for the PSD and me and Mr. Radu Roca, for the position of president of the Satu Mare County Council and mayor of the municipality of Satu Mare”, said Mircea Govor.

The union leaders who signed the collaboration protocol are Ioan Nintaș, the president of the Satu Mare branch of the Sanitas union, Mircea Miclauș, who represents the employees in the energy sector, Nicolae Baciu, the leader of the Unio union. Along with the three, according to the president Mircea Govor, the protocol was also signed by Sorin Faur, the meeting leader from Electrolux.

“I thank them from the bottom of my heart! They chose to join us because it is normal for unions to defend people’s rights, and no one, no party in Romania does it better than our party does. We are with the people, with the unions, with the citizens of this county. PSD has always been prompt and pulled the country out of the dead end into which the right-wing parties took it”, said Mircea Govor about the support received from the trade unions.

The pre-campaign period ends today, and the election campaign officially begins tomorrow. Mircea Govor, the president of PSD Satu Mare, made a new appeal to the electoral competitors and expressed his hope that the campaign will be one in which politicians will learn to respect their opponents.

“I want a peaceful election campaign, based on projects, mutual respect from a political point of view, from which our citizens can draw the necessary conclusions and the best can win. That’s how I thought and that’s how I think, an electoral campaign in which we each have the opportunity to present projects”, said Mircea Govor, PSD Satu Mare president, before the official start of the electoral campaign.
