Dan Air, an airline that started operating flights in June 2023 from Braşov airport, but moved to Bacău airport in November, says it has reached 12 destinations departing from Bacău, and in the summer season it also runs charter flights.

“We introduced the second aircraft to increase the destinations we operate. We reached 12 destinations from Bacău. We also operate from Bucharest for the company Anima Wings and Christian Tour. During the summer season we have charter courses dedicated to vacations and we plan to open courses from Bucharest in the winter season as well. Here I mean regular flights under the Dan Air brand”, said Matt David, CEO of Dan Air during the ZF Investiți în Romania! A ZF and CEC Bank project.

The airline founded by former pilot Dan Iuhas was established in 2017 under the name Just Us Air, but in 2021 it rebranded as Dan Air. The airline started operating regular flights in 2023, until then leasing the aircraft, as early as 2018, to companies such as TUI, Wizz Air.

“The second aircraft is due to enter Bacău on May 15 and there is another aircraft operating in Bucharest. We have two profiles, we make regular flights and flights where an operator rents the aircraft with services. They are all Airbus A320s with an average age of 17 years,” said Matt David.

Currently, the company has a fleet of four Airbus aircraft, but operates scheduled flights with only one aircraft, and the other three are leased to Air Serbia. The company introduced regular races because it wanted to diversify its portfolio.

Dan Air is the only company that operated at the opening of the Braşov airport, since its opening and had regular flights to several cities in Europe.

“The decision to move from Braşov to Bacău was made strictly because of the schedule. It was not enough to be able to operate as it was proposed. It was not a viable program because especially in the summer, there were inherent delays. We had a lot of landings in Bucharest and you can imagine, we created a lot of discomfort for the passengers just because we couldn’t arrive until 7 o’clock and we lost a lot of money because of this”, said the director. He emphasized that he does not want Dan Air to return to Brasov, and the plans are to expand the company, especially with flights from Bucharest.
