Minister Florin-Ionuț Barbu, together with his Israeli counterpart Avi Dichter, accompanied by a delegation led by HE Reuven Azar, Israel’s ambassador to Bucharest, made a working visit to investment targets in Ialomița and Constanța counties.
The first objective visited was the pumping and repumping station from Fetești SPP 1, which is part of the Pietroiu Ștefan cel Mare Irrigation Development, being located within the territorial radius of Ialomița county. The water supply of the station is done through the main infrastructure of land improvements (canal CD1) managed and rehabilitated by ANIF through the National Program for the Rehabilitation of the main irrigation infrastructure in Romania.
Following access to non-refundable funds, through measure 125, made available by MADR, the station was fully rehabilitated in 2015, thus allowing the irrigation of an area of 2429 ha.
The Pietroiu Ștefan cel Mare development includes five water pumping and repumping stations and five adduction channels and has a total area of 52,428 ha, of which 21,992 ha within the Călărași county. Out of the total area of development, 52,233 ha are declared viable, and through two investment works started, the rehabilitation of the entire area is considered.
During this visit, a beneficiary farmer of the Rehabilitation Program was present with the help of which he manages to irrigate an area of 4000 hectares, large crop. The surface is served by 24 pivot and linear irrigation equipment.
The other objectives visited were the Agrichim Ialomița farm, the Cambella company, the Saligny silos in the port of Constanța, the Ameropa company and the Iancu sheep farm.
