Details about the earthquake were announced by the National Research – Development Institute for Earth Physics. The earthquake had a magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter scale, so it was a weak one.

“On May 6, 2024, at 02:11:42 (local time of Romania), a weak earthquake with a magnitude of ml 2.8 occurred in the VRANCEA SEISMIC AREA, BUZAU, at a depth of 114.5 km,” informed the cited source.

This earthquake occurred near the following cities: 56km SE of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 60km NW of Buzău, 61km W of Focșani, 62km E of Brașov, 78km NE of Ploiesti.
