The first intelligent speed limiter in Romania was installed in Snagov commune, in Ilfov county. The device is equipped with sensors that identify the speed from a distance and allows them to pass without any effect only those who respect the speed limit in the area.

In Ghermăneşti, in the Ilfove commune of Snagov, approximately 35 km from Bucharest, the first intelligent speed limiter was installed, a prototype that is undergoing tests, according to TVR

The device was installed in the center of the town, where there is also a school, where the speed limit is 30 km/h.

The limiter with sensors lowers into the asphalt if the driver is driving at the legal speed.

In front of the intelligent threshold, a panel will be mounted, through which drivers will be warned that they are following a system with sensors.

“The system consists of some warning panels, sensors and a reducing threshold. Practically, this reducing threshold is raised when the sensors detect that the drivers respect the speed, this bumper lowers”, said Felix Horaţiu Şerb, the director of the company that brought the technology to Romania.

The smart system was used for the first time in Mexico, and the technicians there came to make sure that the device installed in the Snagov commune would work.

The company wants to test smart speed limiters in other Romanian cities as well.
