A mayor from Prahova wants to terminate the contract with Hidro Prahova. “The rate is very high!”

--

The mayor of Blejoi commune, Adrian Dumitru, announced that he wants to terminate the contract with Hidro Prahova, the water and sewage operator of the Prahova County Council. The mayor believes that the rates charged are very high compared to other providers on the market.

Blejoi City Hall concluded the water and sewerage contract with Hidro Prahova in 2019, with a gradual tariff plan, which would ensure a bearable increase on the part of the population in the first three years.

“At the time of appointing the Hidro Prahova company as the operator in the commune, our objectives were to negotiate a preferential tariff and to promote projects to modernize the water and sewage infrastructure that Blejoiul needed, with European funds to which the drinking water supplier had access through POIM . We obtained a significantly lower price, compared to the other localities, which we managed to maintain in the first years of the contract,” declared the mayor of the commune, Adrian Dumitru, for the local publication Info Blejoi.

In the last two years, Hidro Prahova has constantly increased the tariffs for water and sewage, and the authorities in Blejoi began to receive numerous reports from the locals.

For this reason, the management of Blejoi City Hall has decided to terminate the contract with Hidro Prahova and organize a tender to appoint another operator.

Contacted by Observatorul PRahovean, mayor Adrian Dumitru confirmed the information.

“Considering the signals we receive from the people of Blejo, this is the option
which we take into account. Depending on what the people will decide, we will start the legal procedures,” said the mayor, who is running for a new mandate from the PSD.

We remind you that Hidro Prahova is in the top of the most expensive water and sewage suppliers in the country, with a rate of 14.14 lei/m3, excluding VAT.

The information appears in the statistics of the National Regulatory Authority for Public Utilities Community Services (ANRSC) regarding operator tariffs at the national level in March 2024.

At the opposite pole is the operator Apa Nova Ploiești with a water and heating tariff of 6.88 lei/m3.
