A driver. 31 years old, residing in the town of Vâlcelele, Buzău county, was caught by the policemen from the Road Service of the Vâlcea County Police Inspectorate while carrying out public transport of people for a fee, on DN 7, in the town of Călimănești, on 1st May.

He was fined 5000 lei for the illegal activity carried out, not being registered with a license in this regard. In addition, following the contravention, the individual was banned from driving the vehicle used in this activity for six months. The police found that the driver did not have a taxi license or a valid copy as required by law.

“The driver was penalized for contravention according to Law no. 38/2003 regarding transport by taxi and rental with a fine of 5,000 lei, his registration certificate and plates being withheld”, the Vâlcea County Police informs on Thursday.

In addition to the applied fine, the police also decided to suspend the right to use the vehicle used for transporting people for a period of six months.

Otherwise, according to Romanian legislation, drivers found to be throwing trash and waste in nature will not only receive a hefty fine, but the police can also confiscate their car.

A 26-year-old man from Timiș County suffered serious consequences after he was caught unloading several pieces of garbage from a van on a vacant lot and then setting them on fire. This waste was supposed to have belonged to a former commercial company from the town of Beregsău Mare, according to information sent by IPJ Timiș.

The authorities intervened quickly after being alerted to this incident. The driver of the utility vehicle, aged 26, received a fine of 30,000 lei according to the provisions of Emergency Ordinance no. 92/2021 on the waste regime. In addition, the police officers from IPJ Timiș ordered the confiscation of the van used for the transport of waste as a complementary measure.

It is essential to emphasize that, according to the law, individuals caught committing such acts will be fined between 3,000 and 6,000 lei.

The fines become really substantial in the case of legal entities. In these situations, fines can reach up to 20,000 – 40,000 lei.
