Several appeals filed by good citizens of this municipality show in black and white that Dominic Samuel Fritz could not, according to the Romanian Constitution, run for the office of mayor of Timișoara. Others say that it is a domicile issue and that the affairs are interpretable, that the law gives half-way to both camps, they let him, they would stop him from running for the European Fritz, the German Fritz, after all, Fritz from Timisoara. But no matter how legally argued these findings are, nothing defeats the power of the precedent.

Because Dominic Samuel Fritz, whether we like it or not, has been mayor of Timisoara for four years. And then, as now, good citizens of the city contested the candidacy at the municipal electoral office. They even appealed, so two courts determined that the man could run. In fact, he was able to become mayor and administer this city with good and bad, with reforms in the city hall’s own apparatus, with demolitions of buildings without authorization, with stricter rigors in the authorization of new projects, to the despair of the real estate scammers. Things that should be seen, if you want to see them.

But beyond the courts and lines of law, it is said that the voter should have challenged Dominic Fritz’s right to become mayor. It is true that the electorate does not know the law and the specialist, the jurist, the magistrate, the electoral office intervene before it. But even if they allowed Dominic Fritz to run for office, the voter had the power to say NO. But he did not say, to the despair of Nicolae Robu, almost certain of a new mandate on CD Loga no. 1. Now the opinion polls whisper that the fight is on an equal footing, and the mission of the legislator, the referee in this competition would become decisive.

If it weren’t for the precedent of 2020. No one will be able to ban Dominic Fritz from running in 2024 without bumping into the fact that two courts said in 2020 that it was then legal for him to run and even win office of the mayor of Timisoara. It’s awfully hard to justify anything against those decisions. But not only that, how to tell the voter that in these years he, the taxpayer, had to be administered by Nicolae Robu?

That, in fact, nothing Dominic Fritz did, according to his detractors, should have happened. That is, the “nothing” done by the current mayor has kept us in a stasis floating above time. The organizational charts haven’t changed at all, directors Răvășilă and Aurelian would still be there, Chiş Culita would still have work, Ionuț Nasleu would have taken Piețele where we would never have dreamed, the sports bases were still unauthorized, but opened, the Thermal beach was still working without paying anything to the municipality, and now, now what do we have?

Nothing, “Dominic”. Is it right to put society in such a mess? Nicolae Robu deserves cryogenics for such situations. Just ask Nicolae Robu to tell us today what he will do in the future mandate if he wins it in 2024 and you will feel despair knowing how much we lost between 2020 and 2024, how many passages, how many, new bridges, how many football titles, lower taxes… Only those from Heaven held out over time.
