An anti-model: Bolojan

Do you remember the bank that circulates every four years, with the elections that are held in Romania only to determine who governs the UDMR? Another one is about to appear in Bihor: the elections are held to find out who Bolojan beat.

Since 2008, since he was employed at Oradea City Hall, his opponents have had only one strategy: Confuse him, God! And, when he didn’t get himself entangled in the multitude of projects he launched, all completed – some, as he himself admits, far from perfect -, they got him entangled. Isn’t that how the Oradea Mare project failed, do you remember?

However, what to see? If in 2008 he won the City Hall with 50.3%, a first in the conditions where until then in Oradea the same “society game” was practiced in two rounds (the first was won by the UDMR because the Romanians did not bother to vote, in the second they woke up and voted “ours” the winner, so that the Hungarian would not come out”), in 2012, the mayor-punishment, instead of being expelled, obtained 66.08%. After another four years, in 2016, despite the trolls, he took even more: 70.9%. And this in a city with a quarter of the population of ethnic Hungarians and despite the aura of “eating Hungarians”.

In 2020, he had collected enough achievements to retire from the City Hall, but he chose to leave it to another, younger one, and he to clean the stables of Augias and the County. All the parties turned against him, both from the left, from ethno-business, and from the right, and he still won, with 61.51%. And, instead of taking it easy, he set about doing, alertly, exactly what he had said in the campaign, assuming all the consequences, from those after the airing of the huge organization chart, full of drones, to the effects of the expropriations for the new roads.

And now, surprise: instead of being finished, it’s rated 74%! Why is this happening? Following him since 2004, when he was the most frowning county councilor, but the only one who read draft decisions down to the comma, I noticed that the man is not only well-intentioned and tenacious, but also, quite simply, organized. He meticulously plans everything he has to do, not only from today to tomorrow, but also from today to next year and from this year to the next four, and constantly checks that it is on schedule. And he doesn’t shoot alone, but by cultivating collaborators, at least one of whom can follow him.

If the other politicians, not only from Bihor, but from the country, are not successful either in the elections or in the administration, or they are successful today and tomorrow they already become the past, it is not because they do not have a brain, a heart and two hands , but because, of course, I don’t use them. At least not for the public good.

The recipe for beating Bolojan is not to demolish him, but to copy him if you want to surpass him. In a country of plagiarists, it would be the only mimicry useful not only for politicians, but also for citizens. But what else can you expect from some competitors who, here, in Bihor, did not even conduct polls, even though they knew that the elections were coming and anyway money from the state is falling on their heads for party work? For politicians who go to slap, follow the gang or as the wind blows, Bolojan remains an anti-model. If he doesn’t learn anything from him, how can he overcome him?
