The six-year-old boy from Gorj, who was allegedly sold for a few hundred lei to a family in Germany, was brought back to Romania. He arrived at the maternal assistant in Gorj where, for several days, his older sister is also.

On the way from Germany he was cheerful, communicative, but he was most happy when he saw, for the first time after many weeks, a familiar face: his sister. He was accompanied by the psychologist from DGASPC Gorj who dealt with this case from the beginning.

The specialists who saw him say that the little boy has traumas related to alienation, the road, the fact that he was separated from his brothers, but that, receiving help, he can overcome them.

The delegation made up of representatives of the Romanian authorities that brought the six-year-old boy who was allegedly sold by his family to a man from Germany arrived home in Gorj on Tuesday morning, when dawn broke.

On the way, the child impressed the members of the delegation who went to pick him up, from somewhere in the Bavaria region: he was cheerful, communicative, lively, full of energy. He was among his people, people who finally spoke the language he understood. He was separated for a few months from everything that meant “home” to him.

He was most happy when he saw his sister. “Then he was the happiest”, described the moment those who witnessed the reunion scene. In fact, he stayed with her, in the home of a professional maternal nurse, where the eight-year-old girl has been since the day the Romanian authorities found out about this case.

He has trauma, yes, representatives of the Gorj General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection revealed to News.ro. But he can overcome them, with professional help. In fact, the little one has already entered a psychological counseling program.

In the wake of this case, many unknowns remain. On some of them, the investigation of the prosecutors from the Organized Crime Investigation Department began to bring them to light. The first certainty, publicly expressed by the Minister of the Family, Natalia Intotero, is that the little one was taken out of the country with the consent of his family.

He arrived in Germany “under unclear circumstances” with a foreign citizen, Intotero wrote on social networks.

Local sources told News.ro that he was allegedly sold for several hundred lei, somewhere less than 500, by his alcoholic father and mentally ill mother.

He arrived in Germany, where he stayed for a few months, and a man tried to enroll him in a kindergarten. Those from the educational institution asked about the parents, about the child’s documents, why he doesn’t speak German… That’s when the authorities from the city of Regensburg, Bavaria, got on the phone.

It was immediately taken over in the social protection system in Germany, somehow similar to the one in Romania, when it comes to child protection. He was taken to an assistant, where he stayed until the Romanian authorities took him over on Monday.

What was to be the fate of the little one? Not known. The General Consulate of Romania in Munich, which collaborated with the authorities in the country in this case, writes in black and white: “The child was taken out of the country under unclear circumstances and purposes” and yes, he was in a “risk environment”.

He will remain with his sister, in the State’s protection system. While? No one knows, a child that the parents give to a stranger, for a few hundred lei, is not safe in the family. The younger brother of the two is also with a maternal assistant. He was not safe at home.

“The protection measure in the case of the minor in danger remains as long as it is needed”, Minodora Sucea, from DGASPC Gorj, explains to News.ro.

Meanwhile, the DIICOT investigation is ongoing, and the prosecutors are expected to shed light on this case.
