All-out scandal between PSD and PNL after the storming of a street in Slănic, Prahova. PSD claims that CJ Prahova issued an authorization for the gas network without an “in-depth geotechnical study”. Politicians accuse themselves using phrases such as “incompetence”; “lack of decency”, “bad will”, non-involvement”, “chasing for money and votes”. The main characters of the political struggle are the candidates of the two formations for the presidency of the County Council: Iulian Dumitrescu (PNL), accused of corruption and suspended from office by decision of the DNA and Virgiliu Nanu (PSD), former prefect, accused of knowing about the situation in Slănic and did nothing for the locals.
This scandal between the PSD and the PNL started shortly after the 23 August roadway in the city of Slănic collapsed at a level difference of two meters.

Cristian Buzea (PNL) says that Daneluş Costea and Virgil Nanu are guilty of endangering the lives of citizens in the case of the surprises in Slănic. Only a divine miracle prevented us from having human victims.
“These days, the mayor of Slănic is more concerned with the electoral campaign than with the fact that the locality is literally sinking because of the bad will he has shown. The mass media presents the situation as if this problem of surprises had appeared overnight. There have been big problems in the area for over a decade, with things worsening considerably in the last year. At every question from the citizens, the mayor Costea Daneluş did nothing but shrug his shoulders, refusing to do any geological study or to contribute to the consolidation of certain problem areas, although he was legally obliged.
In fact, in several situations he refused to help the people who were victims of landslides. If he had a shred of decency – he or the PSD county organization -, Costea Daneluş should not come once again to ask for the citizens’ vote and possibly answer legally for not taking any measures to prevent the current situation. Only a divine miracle prevented us from witnessing human casualties”, stated Cristian Buzea.

The PNL leader from Slănic also accuses Virgiliu Daniel Nanu, former prefect of Prahova county and current PSD candidate for the position of president of the County Council, that, as president of the Committee for emergency situations at the county level, he did nothing for Slănic . The report that Nanu claims he ordered in November 2023 is not ready even half a year away.
“Last November, when the landslides affected the houses of several dozen residents of Slănic, Virgil Nanu convened the Committee for Emergency Situations and promised that studies would be done on the condition of the land in Slănic. The only effect was that people were not even allowed to intervene with machinery to strengthen their houses affected by landslides. Basically, he made fun of the inhabitants of Slănic.
In PSD’s opinion, the solution is simple: let’s not move a finger, let’s wait for the houses to fall on us, for the city to sink and not to do any kind of infrastructure project. Not to mention that we would have expected that, by now, the Ciolacu Government would have already allocated the necessary funds in the event of a natural disaster for the consolidation of land and the repair of material damage”, concluded the PNL candidate for Slănic City Hall, Cristian Buzea.
