Two high school students from Oradea managed to get the 2nd place in a test of the Robotics Olympiad in Greece, which took place over the weekend in the city of Heraklion.

According to a press release sent by Robotics Club Oradea, the club to which the two belong, the Olympics had several sections: 3 kg Wrestling, 500 g Wrestling, Drone Race, Humanoid Sumo, Humanoid Weight Lifting and Humanoid Challenge.

“Despite the challenges encountered during the competition, such as the lack of team members or essential spare parts, the young people joined forces and demonstrated their knowledge in the field of robotics,” the release states.

At the end of the three days of competition, Antonia Ciobanu and Mario Brata (photo, left) they managed to get second place at the Humanoid Challenge test. The two formed the team called RoboUp.

The teenager is a student at the Emanuil Gojdu National College in Oradea, and her colleague is a student at the Onisifor Ghibu National College.

Although they are high school students, the two did not compete in the section dedicated to students, but in the section for adults, due to the fact that the robot they built was much more advanced than those of their competitors of the same age.

The Robofy teams also participated in this competition, made up of students from the third year of the Mechatronics specialization, Leticia Hidvegi and Roland Hidvegi, who before this competition participated in the Mechatronics Education Days in Bucharest, where they took second place at the Drone test.

At the Robotics Olympiad in Greece there was also the TOR team made up of the master students from FIMT, Sebastian Lăzuran, Oana Gal and Valentin Sidea, as well as the ROT team, made up of students from the second year of the Bachelor’s degree in Robotics in English Mihnea Gavriş, Mahmoud Darbaj and Raul Ţicarat. The DARK team was represented by the student Rareş Roman.

The delegation was accompanied by the teaching supervisor Florin Avram from the Faculty of Managerial and Technological Engineering.

The members of the club are currently preparing for the 12th edition of the Robotics Championship, which will take place in Oradea, between May 9 and 11 at the Antonio Alexe Arena, where more than 700 students and young people from more than 10 countries have already registered .
