New negotiations for a Gaza ceasefire: A Hamas delegation goes to Egypt on Monday

A Hamas delegation will travel to Cairo on Monday for talks on a Gaza ceasefire, a Hamas official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

The delegation will discuss a ceasefire proposal offered by mediators, as well as Israel’s response.

The talks come after Hamas released a video on Saturday of two hostages, including one with dual US-Israeli citizenship.

In the video, Israeli-American Keith Siegel, who appears to be speaking under duress, pleads for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate a hostage release deal with Hamas, CNN reports.

This is the first video released of Siegel since he was abducted by Hamas with his wife from their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7.

CNN says it cannot verify where or when the video was shot, but the hostages said they were unable to celebrate Passover, which ends Tuesday. “I’ve been here for 202 days,” says Omri Miran, the Israeli citizen who appears in the Hamas video, suggesting the video was shot on Thursday.

This is the second hostage video released by Hamas in recent days. On Wednesday, the terrorist group released a video of Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was kidnapped from the Nova music festival on October 7.

In the undated video, Goldberg-Polin is shown with part of her left arm missing several inches above the hand.

Officials from Egypt and Israel told CNN on Friday that an Egyptian delegation is in Israel as part of an effort to advance stalled negotiations aimed at freeing the hostages and implementing a ceasefire in Gaza.
