In the run-up to the Easter Holidays, the Dolj Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Directorate started specific thematic controls, to ensure safe food trade for citizens and prevent the occurrence of food poisoning.

During this period, the permanence of the activity will be ensured through the extended schedule at the territorial DSVSA Dolj and CSVSAO level, including on Saturdays and Sundays. At their premises, the working hours, the name of the responsible veterinarian and the telephone number where consumers can report any aspect of irregularities in the field of food safety will be displayed.

Considering the epidemiological situation at the national and county level in the direction of African swine fever (ASF), the sanitary and veterinary requirements regarding the movement (sale-purchase) of pigs and other animal species will be strictly observed.

Also, the movement of sheep and goats intended for slaughter will be monitored, respectively the entire route from the farms or holdings of origin to sanitary and veterinary authorized slaughterhouses or temporarily authorized slaughter centers.

In all agro-food markets and in other specially arranged places where the meat and other products of seasonal animal origin will be used, sanitary-veterinary personnel and an extended activity schedule are provided, including on Saturdays and Sundays.

To make these actions more efficient, veterinarians will request the support of other competent county or local authorities (Prefect’s Institution, mayor’s office, IPJ, IJJ, ANAF, ANPC, Ministry of Health, etc.), in order to organize joint inspection and control actions, within the limits of the established powers through the legislation in force and based on the collaboration protocols concluded with other authorities.

Control actions will consider checking how the following requirements are met:

  • compliance with animal welfare rules during transport, slaughter or cutting, according to the legal provisions in force.

DSVSA Dolj inspectors, in collaboration with representatives of the Dolj County Police Inspectorate, will carry out traffic checks on animal transport for:

-checking the hygiene conditions, disinfection and sanitary and veterinary authorization documents of vehicles used to transport animals;
