Manifestation “April 29 – War Veterans’ Day”

Representatives of the “Ștefan cel Mare” Vaslui County Museum, Prof. Dr. Ramona Maria Mocanu, the manager of the institution and Dr. Mihai-Cristian Șelaru, museographer, participated on Monday, April 29, 2024, in the activity organized by the Vaslui County Council, together with the City Hall Vaslui Municipality, the Institution of the Prefect – Vaslui County, the Association of War Veterans “Peneș Curcanul” Vaslui and the Vaslui County Military Center, on the occasion of War Veterans Day.

The activities began with a military and religious ceremony, which took place, starting at 10:00, at the Monument to the Fallen Heroes of the Second World War.

At 11:00, in the “Ștefan cel Mare” hall of the Vaslui County Council, two war veterans from the 39 veterans still living in Vaslui County today participated: Vasile Putină and Dumitru Comis. Two war widows were also present at the action: Ciocan Aurica and Varochievici Maria, who keep alive the memory of those who were not only their partners, but also heroes of the biggest world conflict

During the event, alongside the speeches given by local officials, from the Vaslui “Ștefan cel Mare” County Museum, Dr. Mihai-Cristian Șelaru gave a speech on the theme: “The Act of August 23, 1944 and Romania’s transfer to the United Nations ”, a brief presentation on the evocation of this decisive moment during the Second World War.
