Romania is hosting the third hydrogen bus promotion tour in May, as part of the JIVE projects supported and funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. A hydrogen-powered bus will be tested on the streets of nine European cities, including Cluj-Napoca and Galați, the first cities in the country to express interest in using buses based on this type of fuel.

Following the positive results of the first two promotional tours in Central and Eastern Europe through JIVE projects – one organized between November 2022 and January 2023, with a bus traveling a total distance of 1,641 km in 5 countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic , Slovakia and Hungary) and the second organized between September and October 2023 in 4 countries (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) over a total distance of 1,450 km – this third tour aims to provide the opportunity to present in Romania the technology based on hydrogen and to allow cities to experience it, Hotnews reports.

In addition to the testing of hydrogen buses in the two Romanian cities, two events dedicated to the promotion tour will be organized, one in Cluj-Napoca on May 9, 2024 and the second in Galați on May 13, 2024, to discuss the challenges and opportunities in implementing hydrogen-based solutions.

The buses will be used in cities and regions in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
