Thus, if the bill is adopted, women will retire sooner

  • for a child – one year old,
  • for two children – one year and six months old,
  • for three children – two years old,
  • for four children – two years and six months old,
  • for five children – three years old,
  • for six children or more – with three years and six months.

“The provisional results of the 2021 Population and Housing Census show a resident population of Romania of 19,053.8 thousand people (19,053,815 people), down by 1.1 million inhabitants (1067.8 thousand people) compared to the previous census (October 2011). Unfortunately, the demographic decline continues to worsen, as a result of the migration of young people and the inconsistency of pro-natalist policies in our country”, argue the initiators in the statement of reasons.

They say that the measure is part of a context in which other European states have drawn up birth-stimulating policies. “The measure does not have a short-term budgetary impact, but it has a positive impact on the demographic dynamics of Romania”, state the initiators.

The project was submitted to the Senate, the first forum referred to, the decision-making being the Chamber of Deputies.
