The AFI Cotroceni shopping center in Bucharest currently holds the title for the largest mall in Romania, but not for long. It will soon be claimed by another mall under construction. Where will it be located?

The South Africans from MAS Real Estate are preparing the transformation of Militari Shopping into the largest mall in Bucharest. The company that operates on the Romanian market through a partnership with Prime Kapital is preparing the expansion of Militari Shopping to a leasable area of over 120,000 square meters, a third larger than AFI Cotroceni, which today holds the title of the largest mall in Romania.

Thus, Militari Shopping will be expanded from an area of approximately 50,000 square meters and almost 2,000 parking spaces, to a total area of over 370,000 square meters and approximately 3,500 parking spaces. And the leasable area will be expanded, being 121,900 square meters. The difference between the leasable and developed surface is given by the spaces dedicated to parking and the common spaces of the commercial complex.

At the same time, the investors plan to expand the buildings where JYSC and World Class are located. It should also be noted that the entire development is carried out on a land with a total area of over 15 hectares. The South Africans from MAS Real Estate had been planning to expand this mall since 2018, when the South Africans paid 95 million euros, in cash, to acquire Militari Shopping from the real estate investor Atrium European Real Estate, ensuring its exit from trace from the Romanian market. Since then, the intention of a substantial expansion of the commercial complex has been announced
