Spring Break 2024 begins on Friday after classes and lasts 11 days. Module 5, the last of this school year, starts on May 8

Kindergarteners and students begin spring break 2024 after classes end on Friday, April 26. The holiday lasts 11 days, up to and including Tuesday, May 7, the third day of Easter, according to the 2023-2024 school year calendar.

More precisely, Friday, April 26, is the last day of classes in module 4. It started either on February 12 (for students from Bistrița-Năsăud and Satu Mare counties), or on February 19 (for students from Bucharest and 25 counties ), or on February 26 (for 14 counties).

In other words, modules 3 and 4 were of different, but complementary lengths, depending on how each county placed its midterm holiday.

After the Easter break, all students start the last module of courses: module 5, the one in which the National Assessments from grades II-VI take place.

School Module 5 courses start midweek on Wednesday 8 May and run until 21 June 2024.

This year, the Easter holiday includes only the Orthodox Easter holidays. For Catholic Easter, celebrated on March 31, Catholic students were not required to go to school between March 29 and April 2, according to an address from the Ministry of Education.

According to collective labor agreement 1,199 of July 5, 2023, there are 4 days off for employees in the education system during the Easter period: Good Friday, the one before Easter and the first, second and third days of Easter. The first day of Easter, Orthodox or Catholic, falls anyway on a weekly day of rest, Sunday, by tradition.

During the rest of the days of the Easter holiday, teachers are in business. If they want to have a vacation, they can choose to take vacation days from those allocated to the current year’s vacation, several teachers tell Edupedu.ro.

Teachers who choose to work on May 2 must recover the day off until May 31, 2024, according to a note from the Dolj School Inspectorate.

The courses end on June 21, 2024, according to the structure published in the Official Gazette on March 15, 2023. VIIIth grade students finish the school year on June 14 and take the National Assessment on June 25. 12th grade students finish on June 7 and have their first BAC 2024 test on July 1, 2024.

When students finish school with exams, from the 8th and 12th grade

VIIIth grade students finish their courses on June 14, 2024. The registration of candidates for the 2024 National Assessment is done automatically by the school secretariats between June 11 and 14.

According to the calendar published in the Official Gazette at the beginning of the school year, the 2024 National Assessment takes place between June 25-28. The Romanian language test will be held on June 25, and the Mathematics test is scheduled for June 27.

12th grade students finish their courses on June 7, 2024, according to the official calendar. The registration of candidates for the first exam session takes place between June 3 and 7, and from June 17 the “oral” tests begin, i.e. those for the certification of Romanian and foreign language skills, as well as digital skills.

If in module 4 the simulations of the national exams, the National Assessment and the Baccalaureate 2024 were held, module 5 includes the National Assessments from the 2nd, 4th and 6th grades. They start on May 13 and end on May 29, 2024, according to the approved structure. Here is their calendar:
