The Constanța County School Inspectorate, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, is organizing the National Geography Olympiad between April 25-30, 2024, in Constanța.

345 students from the 8th-12th grades, from the 41 counties of the country and from the City of Bucharest, participate in the competition.

The opening ceremony of the Olympiad took place today, April 25, 2024, at the “Jean Constantin” Multipurpose Educational Center for Youth in Constanța, in a setting defined by the professional elegance of the guests and the competitive spirit of the county’s student groups.

Sorin Mihai, general school inspector, Silviu Iulian Coșa, prefect of Constanța county, Marian Ene, president of the Central Commission of the Olympics and Mihaela Alexandru, inspector general of the Ministry of Education, executive president of the Central Commission, spoke at the event.

In this competition, the students will take the following tests:

⁃ written test (April 26, 2024), at the “Ovidius” Theoretical High School in Constanța;

⁃ the practical test (April 28, 2024) which involves the verification of geographical knowledge, following field applications, in various areas of Constanța county.

“It is an honor for our county to host a representative national event for education, characterized by scientific excellence, rigor and competitive spirit. This fact demonstrates once again the concern of the Constanța County School Inspectorate in the direction of capitalizing on the performance of our students, members of a community educated with responsibility”, said Sorin Mihai, general school inspector.
