Six-year-old children, sold to a citizen of Germany

--

An outrageous case took place in Gorj, where a six-year-old child was sold by his own parents to a German citizen. The man would have paid the two parents the sum of 8,000 lei. No one would have known about this situation if a notification to this effect had not arrived at the DGASPC Gorj address.

Outrageous case in Gorj

DIICOT prosecutors opened an investigation to determine exactly how it was possible for the minor to cross the border without being detected. Also, the investigators will determine which documents were used and if officials were involved. Magistrates suspect that the minor left the country on the basis of a false power of attorney.

The six-year-old boy was allegedly bought in December last year. The minor’s family takes care of several children, but was not included in the monitoring program of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) Gorj. Child Protection has not identified any danger to minors or any risk of abandonment.

The authorities found out about this situation when a notification appeared on the institutional address of the Gorj Child Protection, asking the institution to check whether the minor is at home. DGASPC representatives went to the home of the minor. The boy was not found. However, following checks, DGASPC employees discovered that the said child was sold for 8,000 lei.

“The situation of the minor came to the attention of DGASPC Gorj as a result of the address submitted by the National Authority for the Protection of Child Rights and Adoption, in April 2024. The procedure was immediately started according to the legislation in force. As the institutions empowered to verify the issues have been notified, they will intervene according to their legal competences (DIICOT)”, said Minodorea Sucea, the spokesperson of DGASPC Gorj.

DGASPC Gorj checked the conditions in which the child’s two brothers are kept

Later, the DGASPC representatives took over two other minor children from that family. An eight-year-old girl and a two-year-old and six-month-old boy. Both were placed in the care of foster carers. The two minors entered the special protection program-emergency placement.

The Minister of the Family, Natalia Intotero, together with the general director of DGASPC Gorj checked the conditions in which the two brothers of the child sold to a German citizen are kept. Both children were included in a psychological counseling program and underwent further medical investigations.

“We make it clear that after clarifying the legal situation of the minor in Germany, we will intervene in taking him over and establishing a special protection measure”, added Minodora Sucea, representative of DGASPC Gorj.
