A 6-year-old child, from a village in Gorj, was sold by his parents to a German citizen, and the Romanian authorities are trying to find out how it was possible for the little one to be taken to Germany. The child crossed the border on the basis of a false power of attorney, and the grandparents say that the German citizen would have given money to the parents and also to the customs officials to be able to cross the border. DIICOT prosecutors are trying to find out how such trading was possible. The lawyer of the child’s family declares that the German citizen would have taken the child from Romania for accommodation, later adopting him through the international adoption procedure.

The child’s parents, located in the town of Danciulesti in Gorj county, claim that they would have given their 6-year-old boy for a better life

Journalist: How is it there? What’s the matter?

Father of the child: “Very good”.

Journalist: Did you see where he is sitting?

Father of the child: “Yes”.

He says that the transaction was made at a notary in Craiova

And the intermediary of the business would have been a local from Danciulești commune, who works in Germany as a cook for the German citizen who took the child. The lawyer of the child’s family claims that the German citizen was trying to adopt him and wanted to check the compatibility between them.

Alexandru Călinoiu, lawyer: “Is 4,000 worth a child? Did we really get to Romania that cheap?”

“All the steps were done perfectly legally. There is no crime, I can guarantee you that. There is no payment of any kind. There are the expenses that were made for clothes, for food and all that. Now…let’s be serious. 4000 worth a child? Did we really get to Romania that cheap?”said the lawyer.

The child’s relatives say that the little one was allegedly sold and crossed the border illegally

Journalist: When did this happen?

The boy’s uncle, Marin Manu: “After January 5, until Epiphany”.

Journalist: What did they take him with?

The boy’s uncle, Marin Manu: “With a car of his, the German’s.”

And the child’s grandmother knows that in order to cross the border, the German citizen would have cheated the customs officials

Journalist: How much did he give to customs?

Sloth Manu, the little boy’s grandmother: “About 150 euros. It didn’t go through Arad customs, it went through the other customs, but I don’t know which one”.

According to what the boy’s relatives say, the local town hall was notified of this transaction, but did not consider it necessary to get involved. According to the mayor, the family was not being monitored. The two parents also have two minor children, an 8-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy who were taken by DGASPC Gorj.

Now, after DIICOT opened an investigation, the German authorities took the 6-year-old boy and took him to a foster care center in Germany.
