A 15-year-old child was hit by a driver on a pedestrian crossing in Turda, Cluj county, while crossing on a scooter. The legislation says that the crossing must be done next to the bicycle or scooter.

The accident occurred on Friday, April 26, around 4:00 p.m., at a pedestrian crossing on Câmpiei street in Turda municipality.

“From the first data, it emerged that a 15-year-old minor had engaged in crossing the road on a scooter, being injured by a car, driven by a 65-year-old man, in the direction of Câmpia Turzii towards Cluj- Napoca.

Following the impact, the scooter was projected in the opposite direction of travel into a car, at the wheel of which was a 41-year-old man”, state the investigators.

Breathalyzer tests indicated negative results.

The juvenile was transported to the hospital for further investigation.

Who is to blame for this accident?

What does the law provide: “Crossing public roads on pedestrian crossings, while traveling on a bicycle or scooter constitutes a violation of road traffic rules and may attract a misdemeanor penalty, or, more seriously, involvement in a road accident“.

It is most likely the driver’s fault, but partly also the pedestrian’s fault.
