Romanian waters Dobrogea – Littoral, in the fever of auctions on

--
The summer season is knocking at the door, and the beaches of the Romanian coast will be full of Constantinians and tourists. The competent authorities in the field are in the fever of the auctions for renting the beaches and in the process of resolving the contracts that expired last year. From this year, the signing of lease contracts depends on the new provision implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests. Through this provision, the rental period of the beaches is increased from two to ten years.

Most of the subsectors put up for auction this year are located in Mamaia, being 38 in number. In Constanța, 4 subsectors are put up for auction, and in Saturn and Mangalia, one each. According to the representatives of the Dobrogea – Litoral Water Basin Administration, the auctions took place last month, as follows: in Mamaia, between March 20-22, the auctioned areas being between 3,983 square meters and 32,954 square meters; in Constanta, on March 22, the surfaces being between 7,786 square meters and 15,434 square meters; in Saturn, on March 22, the surface being 458 square meters; in Mangalia, on March 22, the surface being 1,801 square meters. Once the contracts are signed, they will go into effect immediately and will be valid until September 30, when the summer season ends.

In the preparation of the beaches for the summer season, the Ministry of the Environment and the Dobrogea – Coastal Water Basin Administration encountered the problem of expired leases from last year and the lack of time for economic operators to set up the place where they will operate. 57 beach sector leases have expired since last year. 13 of these are in Eforie Nord and Eforie Sud. The beach operators asked the Minister of the Environment, Mircea Fechet, to expedite the organization of this year’s tenders, in order to have time to obtain all the approvals before the start of the summer season. Precisely for this reason, the minister promised them that he would look for the legal solutions to increase the lease period to ten years, so that the economic agents could amortize their investments.

Also, ABADL representatives assure us that, in the framework of the Coastal Erosion Reduction project, carried out by the Romanian National Water Administration, the works started on 3 lots will be completed by winter. “It is about the lots Olimp, Jupiter-Neptune and Balta Mangalia-Venus-Aurora. The beaches widen on average by 100 meters of dry beach, and the length is 3 km at Olimp, at Neptun – 2.5 km and at Balta Mangalia-Venus-Aurora – 3.5 km. The last three beach sectors, Lot 6 – Costinești, Lot 10 – Mangalia and Lot 11 – 2 Mai, are in the design phase”, said the director of ABADL, Hristu Uzun, for “Cuget Liber”.
