UPDATE 2: Serious accusations are made by the child’s relatives. His uncle gave hallucinatory details about the transaction allegedly concluded by the minor’s father. He says that the sale would have taken place at the beginning of January, when the German would have paid half of the negotiated amount. The child’s father denies the allegations.

“They sold the child to two people. You don’t have to give them children. They received 400 million.(…) I posted on Facebook: ‘be careful! Child crossed the border fraudulently!’ That happened after January 5. He left with the German’s car,” said the child’s uncle.

“He left by car. I made him a passport in Craiova,” said the child’s father himself.

Asked if he misses his child, the father gave a shocking answer: “Well, we see each other on the phone. He always talks to me. He says ‘hi dad. hi dad!’, according to Antena 3 CNN.

UPDATE: The child is to be brought to the country by the German authorities, announces the Minister of the Family.

A 6-year-old child was allegedly taken out of Romania by a German citizen with a fake power of attorney. There were rumors that the minor was sold by the father, but the police have not yet confirmed this hypothesis.

An investigation by DIICOT prosecutors is trying to find out how this was possible. The investigation tries to explain how it was possible for the German citizen to cross the border, what documents were used for the transaction, and with the involvement of which officials, because in that situation a false power of attorney was used.

The 6-year-old boy was allegedly sold in December last year. The family has several children, but was not monitored by the DGASPC, as it did not raise any problems. The authorities found out about the transaction when a notice was sent to the Child Protection Directorate in Gorj requesting to check if the minor is at home. At the beginning of this month, DGASPC teams went to the family’s home and obviously did not find the child. After the checks, it was found out that it was sold for 8000 lei. The other two minors, an 8-year-old girl and a 2-year-old and 6-month-old boy, were immediately picked up from the family home. They were given to foster carers, according to Antena 3 CNN.

The first statement of the Minister of the Family

The Minister of the Family, Natalia Intotero, provided the first statement about the case.

“I went yesterday to make sure that the brothers of the minor, who are now in Germany, are well taken care of by the Romanian state through the General Directorate of Child Assistance and Protection. So, yesterday together with the director of DGASPC Gorj, we traveled yesterday to we met with them. It’s about a 2 and a half year old and an 8 year old. We talked to the foster carers, we were in the presence of the psychologists, we made sure that they are still receiving support and that they are very well taken care of It is a case filed by DIICOT, following a request for the National Authority for the Protection of Children’s Rights, from the social protection authorities in Germany more speculation regarding the transaction and the fake power of attorney. What I can tell you is that the state authorities, through DGASPC and DIICOT, reacted promptly. (…) Next week the president of the National Authority for the Protection of Child Rights and Adoption will make an emergency trip to Germany where he will discuss with the German authorities in order to repatriate the minor as soon as possible”, said Natalia Intotero.
