PepsiCo, one of the leaders in the food and beverage industry, has completed the installation of a major green energy project in its three sites in Romania, in Dragomirești, Popești-Leordeni and Covasna. This project is an integral part of the decarbonization goals of the PepsiCo Positive (pep+) program, which aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The local investment of 2.1 million dollars consisted of the installation of more than 3,000 photovoltaic panels, with a combined capacity of 1,700 kWp. These panels are estimated to generate over 1,300 MWh of green electricity per year. It is estimated that the use of these photovoltaic panels will lead to an annual reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 500 tons, equivalent to the benefit of planting more than 15,000 trees.

“The installation of photovoltaic panels in our factories in Romania represents an important step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as part of our pep+ objectives,” said Daniel Drăgușin, Director of Supply Chain for the Eastern Balkans at PepsiCo. “This investment will not only help us achieve our sustainability goals, but will also bring significant economic benefits by reducing energy costs.”
