USR submitted a criminal complaint to DIICOT against Popescu Piedone and the “octopus” from Sector 5

The lawyer and leader of the councilors USR Sector 5, Alexandru Dimitriu, announced that he has submitted a criminal complaint to the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) against the mayor Cristian Popescu Piedone and the “criminal group” that “captured” the City Hall Sector 5 and subordinate institutions.

Dimitriu is the counter-candidate of Piedone’s son, Vlad Popescu for the mayor’s office of sector 5. Cristian Popescu Piedone had an altercation with Dimitriu on Sunday: I understood that you made my boy “holigophrenic”.

Criminal complaint against the “octopus” from Sector 5

“Based on the information published in the press about his clan and the whole octopus that has taken over Sector 5, I said to come to file a criminal complaint for the crime of forming an organized criminal group. I am convinced that DIICOT self-reported, following the press inquiries, but for my peace of mind and that of the citizens of Sector 5, we still decided to make sure that there is and will be an investigation, and I filed this complaint”, said Alexandru Dimitriu, on Thursday , at the exit from the DIICOT headquarters.

He stated that around Cristian Popescu Piedone there are dozens of relatives who hold public leadership positions.

“We have a date in the City Hall, in the mayor’s office, we have the public administrator, who is Mr. Piedone’s nephew. We have your relatives in the City Council, who, it’s true, are local councilors, they were elected on lists, but it’s still a bit strange to have so many relatives everywhere. We are talking about the son-in-law of Mr. Piedone, who is appointed by the pen of Mr. Piedone, not by a decision of the Local Council, as Mr. Piedone lies, in a commission from which he receives 5,000 lei per month,” Dimitriu declared.

“We are talking about the head of the Local Police, who is, in turn, a relative. We are talking about wives, mistresses, as the media say. So these things need to be checked. The calculation is somewhere around 46 people, but there are also in the municipal companies interposed by his lordship, with whom he worked everywhere and there are people who are screwed there,” he added.

HotNews.ro published an investigation on Monday about the husband of Piedone’s City Hall spokeswoman, a former football player from Dinamo, who received 15 million lei contracts with the City Hall and subordinate public institutions. Piedone’s town hall confirmed that the businessman’s wife was appointed “spokesperson for Sector 5” by the mayor himself.

HotNews.ro also wrote, on February 28, about Şerban Andrei, Piedone’s son-in-law, married to the mayor’s daughter, Ana. According to the 2021 and 2022 wealth declarations, the mayor’s son-in-law collected more than 50,000 euros from the state, being remunerated from three positions, plus the allowance of local councilor Sector 5. He has been a local councilor since 2020, having been elected on the lists of the Humanist Social Liberal Party , founded by Dan Voiculescu and managed by Piedone.

The mayor of Sector 5 also claimed on Thursday, in an intervention on Antena 3, that HotNews.ro would not have published a point of view that he would have sent to the editors during the investigation that shows that the Mayor of Sector 5 bought without a tender equipment for playgrounds, benches, trash cans and fitness equipment, in 12 contracts totaling 1 million lei, from the company Geca Impex PM.
