Searches in Cluj in the case of fraud and blackmail, today.

Police officers from Constanta are today searching people suspected of fraud and blackmail in Bucharest, Ilfov and Cluj.

The suspects are accused of claiming to repair the victims’ buildings, but the work was not done properly and later they threatened to leave the houses without a roof if they did not receive the money. Today’s searches take place at the residences of three men suspected of committing the respective crimes. From the investigations carried out in the file, it emerged that, between May 2022 and February, they would have misled three injured persons from Constanța and Bucharest counties, by using unreal qualities of employees in the position of engineers of a commercial company, “presenting them as true the false circumstance according to which they will carry out extension and repair works of the victims’ buildings, concluding service contracts. Thus, an advance amounting to 95,000 lei would have been collected from the injured persons, subsequently carrying out partial works, which would not have corresponded to the technical norms in force”, stated the investigators. They added that the suspects forced the victims to send them the total sum of 176,000 lei, threatening them that the workers would abandon the work they had started, leaving the homes without roofs.
