“Water is essential in agriculture. I gave fertilizers, but if you don’t have water the results are even worse. (…) I am booked for 2024. It would be good if it rained more”, said Ingrid Staver, administrator of Agro Staver, a company that produces cereals in two counties (Galaţi and Brăila), during the ZF BT Romanian Agriculture conference. New technologies and challenges, which took place on April 23 in Galati.
In 2023, the drought was felt in some areas of the country, with grain production estimated at 23-25 million tons, similar to that of 2022, but above the 19 million tons of 2020, the year with the worst drought, which affected over 2 million hectares, half of those cultivated with cereals and oilseeds.
