The first Metropolis set has arrived in the Capital, which will run on Magistrala 5 – between Eroilor and Drumul Taberei – of the metro. In total, 13 trains should arrive. The train was named “Giurgiu” and is now at the depot in Berceni. The tests are next and then it will be put into circulation.

Alstom Transport trains are produced in Brazil. The first should have arrived in Bucharest in June 2023 – it was almost a year late.

The “Giurgiu” seal is part of the lot of 13 for Magistrala 5. The contract has a total value of almost 100 million euros.

The set is equipped with surveillance cameras, dynamic LCD displays inside the cars with a dynamic presentation of the route map, as well as special seats for people with disabilities. Each train has six carriages, and the maximum capacity is 1,200 passengers.

The “Giurgiu” train is now undergoing trials to obtain approval from the Romanian Railway Authority, then it will be put into circulation on Highway 5 – the one between Eroilor and Drumul Taberei.
