The Bucharest – Ilfov Green Belts project was registered in the new Forestry Code. It received a unanimous vote from the joint Senate Environment and Forestry Committees.
The Bucharest-Ilfov Green Belt is an extremely important public health project, with a strong social and anti-pollution component, the document shows.
One of the amendments supported by the Civic Platform Together for the Green Belt refers to the establishment of a legal framework through which access to forests is allowed to the population for recreation. Practically, citizens will be able to walk quietly in all the forests around the Capital, with a few specific exceptions that may represent a danger of injury, such as the execution of some works at the time. This point could become a reality from August 1.
The Ministry of the Environment supports, at the same time, an amendment aimed at including outstanding trees in the National Forestry Fund and ensuring their conservation.
The project, which involves the conservation of the forests surrounding the Capital, should pass the Parliament by the end of June.
