The JC Liberty dojo hosted a joint judo training session on Wednesday evening, which was attended by the U17 and U19 soccer players from the FC Bihor Academy, together with the JC Liberty judoka.

The training was led by sensei Florin Lascău 8 Dan, former world champion, director of the Arbitration Commission of the International Judo Federation, the only Shidoin in the world outside of Japan, JC Liberty coach.

It was the first judo training of the football players from Oradea, with the aim of completing and perfecting their physical training and avoiding injuries.

The training was followed by the signing of the collaboration protocol between the two clubs, by the president of JC Liberty Oradea, Loredana Lascău 3 Dan, respectively George Tătar, the president of FC Bihor. Also present were Alina Borza 2 Dan – vice president of JC Liberty, Stelian Farcău – FC Bihor Academy coordinator, Laurențiu Danșa – member of FC Bihor AGM and Adrian Sorin Todea – coach of the U 17 group. According to the protocol, all FC Bihor groups, from U10 to U19 years old, will perform one judo training each month, together with the judoka from JC Liberty.

This additional physical training is similar to the training carried out by the Steaua team, winner of the European Champions Cup in 1986, under the leadership of sensei Florentin Marinescu, master of martial arts. Those trainings led to a spectacular reduction in the number of injuries suffered by star footballers.

“From a sporting point of view, this collaboration means a very big win for both clubs. Taking elements and skills of judo and transferring them to the field of football means a much better preparation of the athletes, which will lead to protecting them from injuries. This extra training will lead to fewer injuries, more self-confidence and more discipline. We want to have not only a good judo team, but also better and more valuable football teams

We are doing nothing but continuing what sensei Florentin Marinescu started many years ago, who was a trailblazer in this regard. I am very glad that we were able to resume this tradition in Romania, because this is frequently practiced in Europe, for example at Ajax, an elite club in world football”, said sensei Florin Lascău, one of the most valuable Romanian judokas of all times.
