“Radiojurnal” – Producer: Cristian Bâcâin – The generic drugs that entered the Romanian market in the last seven years brought important savings to the budget of the National Health Insurance Company. The announcement was made by the manufacturers of these drugs at a specialist conference, and the forecasts for the next five years are even better, i.e. savings of half a billion euros. Present at the event, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared that it is time for Romania to start producing innovative medicines.
Marcel Ciolacu: The costs for innovative medicines represent 80% of the House’s expenses and 20% the genetic ones. Making generic drugs cheaper is not a successful thing. Decisions must be made with real information and very well argued, so that we balance between generic and innovative. Moreover, on the territory of Romania, regardless of whether we are talking about Romanian shareholding or another type of shareholding, but we are talking about companies that work on the territory of Romania, so they are Romanian companies, that we are talking about Antibiotice or Terapia from Cluj, it is normal that they are a added value for Romania. Romania must move to the second stage, in which innovative medicines must also be produced on Romanian territory./RADOR RADIO ROMANIA/abranescu/ilapadat
