Demographic disaster in Cluj, the number of live births in February was the lowest in a month in the last ten years.
According to the data of the Cluj County Directorate of Statistics, in February – the date of the most recent reports, from yesterday – the number of live births was, in Cluj, 428 – the lowest in a month in the last ten years. This despite the fact that the natural increase – the difference between the number of live births and the number of deaths – was in February one of the highest in the last decade.
In February 2024, the birth of 428 children was recorded, 104 children less than in January 2024 and 18 children less than in February 2023, the institution’s data show. We remind you that in February the demographic deficit was one of the lowest in the last decade (details here). In this case, however, the demographic increase was strongly influenced, in recent years, by the coronavirus pandemic.
