More than 1,000 children visited the Natural Sciences Section of the Mureș County Museum on Monday, April 22, as part of the “Green School” school program, to “meet” animals and insects unique to Romania, such as the Goliath beetle and the skeleton of the woolly rhinoceros, impressive exhibits of the museum in the municipality of Târgu Mureș, according to the representatives of the Mureș County Museum.

The visits of the little ones began in force from the first day, when more than 1,000 students crossed the threshold of the Mureș County Museum on the occasion of the “Green School” program that will take place for the entire duration of this week, from April 22 to 26. According to the representatives of the museum, the unique exhibits in Transylvania are waiting to be admired by an even greater flow of children in the days to come.

Children can visit, in addition to the skeleton of the woolly rhinoceros, unique in the whole country, the Goliath beetle, one of the largest insects in the world, the crocodile beetle, the giant nun, the mysterious insect recently discovered in the Amazon forest that looks extremely similar to the lobster, and the new exhibition “The Last Dinosaurs of Transylvania”, made by “Babeș Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca through the Department of University Cultural Heritage and the Laboratory of Paleotheriology and Quaternary Geology – STAR Institute and the Mureș County Museum, which will remain in Târgu Mureș for six months.

The exhibition includes four life-size reconstructions of the reptiles that populated Transylvania at the end of the Cretaceous, information about the “Haţeg Island” populated by these creatures about 70 million years ago, including the “dwarf” dinosaurs.

Students can also see, at the Department of Natural Sciences in Târgu Mureș, two mammals, the puma and the reed antelope, the collection of 51 species of exotic insects, amphibians, bats and plants, five geodes and fish replicas, all grouped in nine exhibition sectors. At the same time, the newly opened section of the Mureș County Museum has a greenhouse that ensures the exposure of some exotic plants in a natural setting, a sensory garden with aromatic plants and therapeutic alleys for experiencing the therapy of walking barefoot on different surfaces, according to agerpres.ro.
