Director of the Post Office, announcement about the payment of pensions. “If we get the money on Friday, we take it faster”

The general director of the Romanian Post, Valentin Ştefan, announced on Wednesday that the pensions will be delivered by the Easter holidays. He specified that, depending on when the money will enter the company’s accounts, the employees will be asked to work on a day off, either on May 1 or on May 3.

Valentin Ştefan was asked on Wednesday, in a press conference, if the postmen will manage to deliver the pensions before Easter.

“The short answer is yes, we can deliver the pensions by the holidays. Now let me give you some details. (…) May 2 is a working day. In the company, we work anyway. Secondly, we have the logistical capacity to bring the pensions by the holidays. Now it depends a lot when the money enters our accounts from the National Pension House, from the Treasury, from the Ministry of Labor, that there is a whole administrative flow there. Depending on when we receive the money, we will know whether we will ask the employees to work on the days off or not, whether we are talking about May 1 or whether we are talking about May 3. In principle, if we get the money later, we would only need one non-working day to invite them to come to work so that they distribute the pensions, but at the moment we can’t come up with a clear answer, because we don’t know when we get the money in the accounts. If it comes to us in time, there is no need. If they enter us later, we will have to mobilize even better”, said Valentin Ştefan, according to News.ro.

He explained that the Post Office receives the money a few days before the beginning of the month.

“Usually, the Post Office receives the pension money a few days before the first of the month. Every day that we receive our pensions faster, the faster we will be able to take them. So if we get the money on Friday, we take it faster. If we receive them on Monday, we are one day late, but all pensions can be carried over until the holidays. Of course, if we don’t get any money, we can’t take them. I don’t think that is the case, I know that work is also being done at the Ministry of Labour”, said the general director of the Romanian Post.

He was also asked how many employees are involved in the pension delivery process.

“May 2 is a working day. On May 2, anyway, work was done in the Romanian Post Office, regardless of the situation, because it is a working day. The company has 10,000 postmen and in addition to that we have several thousand support staff, we are talking about a thousand drivers who have to logistically take the goods to their destination, we have the people from the operational back-office who have to process all this money. So, if we were to estimate, I think that somewhere around 13-14,000 employees are caught up in everything that means the distribution of pensions”, said Valentin Ştefan.
