Hungarians humiliate Romania. Preparing the shot: We can write history

--

An athlete born in Hungary and who is currently playing in the Romanian championship has put straw on the fire in the often tense relationship between Hungarians and Romanians. This is what the footballer explained to journalists from his native country.

The Hungarians humiliate Romania again. Incredible statements made by an athlete born in Hungary

The Hungarians come up with a new humiliating reaction to Romania. More precisely, it is about an interview given by a footballer from Hungary who plays in our country, Csikszereda.

Richard Jelena plays for the team from Miercurea Ciuc, in the 2nd League. He spoke of the football team as a Hungarian team, not a Romanian one. The reference came in the context of the so-called Secuiesc Land, which hopes for autonomy within Romania.

Moreover, if Csikszereda were to promote from League 2 to the Super League, then that would represent a great success for the Hungarian people, the footballer believes.

At the same time, in the interview given to the press from his native country, Richard Jelena also accused Bucharest of attitudes against ethnic Hungarians. More precisely, the capital of Romania would be an anti-Hungarian city, the athlete believes.

“It is often said that we can write history for football in Miercurea Ciuc, and this would be a very big thing.

However, we are a team with Hungarian players, Miercurea Ciuc is a settlement with Hungarian connections, in the Szeklerland.

This would be a huge success for everyone, and not only from the point of view of my own football career, but also because I am Hungarian. After all, a Hungarian team can really reach the first league now”, said the Hungarian athlete, according to sport.ro.

Pro-Hungarian chants are often heard in the stadium

He also told that pro-Hungary chants are heard very often in the stands of the stadium in Miercurea Ciuc. “Ria, Ria, Hungary”, is the cry used by thousands of supporters with Hungarian connections, explains the footballer in that interview.

As for Bucharest and anti-Hungarian sentiments, Richard Jelena says that he felt it to the full during a match against Stela, played in Ghencea in 2022.

“Unfortunately, anti-Hungarianism is typical in Bucharest, but I don’t understand why.

We always get these rhymes (gallery songs – ed.), but we don’t even give them importance,” he said.

The Hungarian government financially supports the team from Miercurea Ciuc

Richard Jelena emphasized again that Csikszereda is a Hungarian team. It is no secret, given the sponsorship received directly from the Hungarian Government.

However, he admits that it is not a topic addressed in everyday discussions.

“It is no secret that the Hungarian Government also supports the team.

We are a Hungarian team. However, we don’t really talk about it in everyday life”, explained the footballer, when asked about the financial support from Budapest.
