Cristian Popescu Piedone, the PUSL candidate for the Capital City Hall, responded on Wednesday through a post on social networks to the collaboration offer launched by PSD president Marcel Ciolacu. In response to his proposal to give up his “arrogance” in order to support Gabriela Firea at the Bucharest City Hall, Piedone said that “I understand now why you pawned Bucharest for another 4 years”, with reference to an older image with Nicușor Dan leaving from the Cotroceni Palace.

“I also appeal to another friend of mine, Cristian Popescu Piedone. I think that in life we must sit down at the table, not have pride and succeed in building what is best for Bucharest. Gabriela Firea’s experience, determination, and professionalism she showed when she was general mayor of the Capital confirm that she is the best candidate at this moment for the chair of general mayor. I am firmly convinced that Mr. Piedone will receive my message and together we will overcome arrogance and move to a way in which we must build”, declared Marcel Ciolacu on Tuesday, a few hours after the PSD decided that Gabriela Firea would be the party’s candidate for the City Hall General.

In response, Piedone wrote that “you forgot the people wronged and lied to by Nicușor Dan and pawned Bucharest for your petty interests. I’m just seeing a photo of Nicușor Dan coming out of the palace gate (Palatul Cotroceni, headquarters of the Presidential Administration – ed.) as sleepy as he is. And I understand, now, why you pawned Bucharest for another 4 years”.

Piedone also accused Tuesday of an alleged “political blackmail” by which PSD and PNL would indirectly support Nicușor Dan after the two parties decided to go with separate candidates for Bucharest City Hall – Gabriela Firea (PSD) and Sebastian Burduja (PNL). .
