The 21st edition of the International Multi-Ethnic Shepherding Festival will take place between May 9 and 12, 2024, in Sarighiol de Deal, Beidaud and Tulcea Municipality. The opening will take place on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 5 p.m., with the participation of the “Dor” Aromatic Ensemble, the organizer of the event, but also with the presence of the Bulgarian “Asiga” Ensemble from Ceamurlia de Jos and the “Prhalipen” Ensemble of the Roma Party from Tulcea.

On the first day of the festival, the Folkloric Ensemble “Cununița” from Topolog and the Professional Ensemble “Baladele Deltai” will perform.

There will be ethnic ensembles of Lipovian Russians, Greeks, Turks and Meglenians, together with ensembles from Olt, Vălcea, Bistrita Năsăud, Alba, Hunedoara, Mureș, Maramureș, Suceava, Tulcea. They come from across the border, an ensemble from Balcik, Bulgaria and another from the Republic of Moldova.

During the festival, a symposium and a gastronomic exhibition will take place on Saturday, May 11, with pastoral products specific to the area, made by Armenian housewives from Beidaud commune.

The “Dor” Aromatic Ensemble from Sarighiol de Deal, the organizer of the event, was founded in 1978, at the initiative of engineer professor Dumitru Caimacan Popescu. Structured in two sections: Aromatic songs and dances and Aromatic traditions and customs, the ensemble quickly made the repertoire known throughout the country and abroad, as well as in various radio and television shows. The first edition of the International Shepherding Festival from Sarighiol de Deal took place in 2003.
