Festive meeting in Olt on the Day of the Romanian Gendarmerie, with promotions and congratulation of the best gendarmes

April 3 is a solemn day for gendarmes, celebrating the 174th anniversary of the establishment of the Romanian Gendarmerie, an institution whose history began to be written in 1850, on April 3, when the Ruler of Moldova, Grigore Alexandru Ghica, promulgated the “Legislation for the reform of the corps of Gendarmerie servants”. In Olt, a festive meeting was organized today.

For a week, the Olten gendarmes were present in the community, in the localities of Slatina, Caracal, Corabia and Balș where, together with a large audience, they carried out exhibition activities with the technique and means of protection and intervention specific to the execution of the missions, informed the young people with regarding the educational offer and the prevention of antisocial acts, they carried out sports-recreational exercises, as well as demonstration exercises with the support of service dogs. The activities were organized to mark the Day of the Romanian Gendarmerie, celebrated on April 3. And today, in the meeting room of the Olt County Council, the tribute meeting was held. The heads of county and local institutions were present, as well as representatives of the institutions with which IJJ Olt collaborates to fulfill its duties. During the meeting, the important moments in the development of the institution were evoked and messages of appreciation were sent regarding the activity of the Romanian Gendarmerie.

As for any military person the promotion to the next rank represents a sign of appreciation of constant effort and devotion to the institution, today 20 non-commissioned officers were promoted to the rank before the expiration of the minimum period of service. At the same time, the military personnel who distinguished themselves in the activity carried out were rewarded with thanks, congratulations and citations through the unit’s agenda.
