Free screening campaign for the early identification of autism spectrum disorders, in April in Cluj.

Thus, during the entire month of April, from Monday to Thursday between 12 and 2 p.m., parents who notice certain signs specific to autism are expected at the headquarters of the Cluj County Community Center located on Albert Einstein Street, at number 14, where the therapists of the Recovery Day Center for children with autism provides parents with expert information on children’s development and the symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder. Also, for those parents who come accompanied by their children, specific screening activities will be carried out, for the early detection of the changes they encounter in their psycho-social development.

The Cluj Child Protection Department is sounding the alarm about the increase in the incidence of this mental disorder which, according to the latest data, affects 1 in 36 children. “Thus, according to this not encouraging statistic, it is recommended that parents identify, including with the help of specialists, the first signs of the existence of an autism spectrum disorder, so that specific therapy can begin as soon as possible, with real chances of recovery”, says DGASPC Cluj. The most common signs of autism include repetitive movements, avoidance of eye contact or touch, speech delays, repeating words or phrases, or tics such as hand waving.
