The firefighters of Cluj exasperatedly ask the residents not to set fire to the stubble and then disappear, leaving the flames unattended, with the result of dozens of hectares consumed by flames and a lot of interventions by firefighters in the entire county. No less than 14 fires were registered in Cluj yesterday alone.

Thus, in the integrated dispatcher, requests were received from Cluj-Napoca, but also from the localities of Bologa, Bicălatu, Lungești, Băișoara, Chinteni, Săvădisla, Arghisu, Dealu Mare or Mărgău. For example, this morning a dry vegetation fire risked spreading to two outbuildings in the town of Păniceni, Căpușu Mare commune.

Uncontrolled burning led to the destruction of dozens of hectares of vegetation. In Mărgău, for example, last night the flames spread over an area of approximately 30 hectares. Firefighters say that the mission was made difficult by the particularly strong wind, which favored the spread of the fire, as well as the fact that the outbreaks were in hard-to-reach areas. Previously, the forces from the Huedin Detachment intervened throughout the day in the localities of Bicălatu with ten hectares affected, Arghisu (10 hectares affected) and Dealu Mare (two hectares affected). Another difficult intervention took place in the town of Lungești in the commune of Iara. Firefighters from Garda Baișoara were on the scene, then the forces were supplemented with a crew from Turda. The mission lasted more than 8 hours, as the fire spread over an area of 30 hectares, including the litter box. Firefighters managed to protect the forest, but a crew remained on site throughout the night to monitor the area. As new outbreaks were reported, the intervention was resumed this morning.

Firefighters remind that burning dry vegetation is prohibited and is sanctioned with fines between 7,500 and 15,000 lei for individuals, respectively between 50,000 and 100,000 lei for legal entities.
