More than 76% of the schools in Bucharest have an average below 7 in the simulation of the mathematics test from the national assessment, according to ZF calculations based on the data sent by the School Inspectorate of the Municipality of Bucharest (ISMB).

There are 253 schools in Bucharest, public and private, including high schools with gymnasiums, and 193 of them obtained an average below 7 in the mathematics test, from which it follows that 76% of the schools in Bucharest obtained results below this average threshold Asked during a press conference how many schools there are in the Capital and how many of those with an average below 7 represent the total, the representatives of the Ministry of Education gave data “from memory”: 400 schools in total, that is 50% of the total The reality of the education system catches the authorities off guard this time as well.

More than 76% of the schools in Bucharest have an average below 7 in the simulation of the mathematics test from the national assessment, according to ZF calculations based on the data sent by the School Inspectorate of the Municipality of Bucharest (ISMB).

“At the level of the School Inspectorate of the Municipality of Bucharest, the statistical situation is as follows: in the Romanian language and literature test, nine pre-university education units, of which two private pre-university education units, recorded an average below 7, in the mathematics test, 193 units of pre-university education, of which 11 private pre-university education units, registered an average below 7; in the mother language and literature test, two state pre-university education units registered an average below 7”, ISMB reported.

In total, there are 253 schools in Bucharest, public and private, including high schools with a gymnasium, so those that obtained averages below 7 in the math test from the simulation of this year’s national assessment represent more than 75%.

“In this school year, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest, there are 157 state secondary schools of mass education, 10 state secondary schools of special education and 20 private secondary schools. Also, 64 lyceums/colleges/professional schools were provided for in the schooling plan and the gymnasium level”, says the ISMB information, data that was the basis of the ZF calculation.

Ligia Deca, the Minister of Education, previously said that schools with an average of results below 7 in the simulation of the 2024 national assessment will have a dedicated intervention plan, and the county school inspectorates will have to transmit the number of schools where averages below 7 were recorded on discipline.

However, when they were asked during a press conference how many schools there are in the Capital and how much of the total are those with an average below 7, the representatives of the Ministry of Education gave data “from memory”: 400 schools in total, that is 50% out of the total, so that the reality of the education system catches the authorities off guard this time as well.

“How many schools are there in Bucharest?” was the question of ZF in order to be able to measure the real impact of the disastrous results in the simulation of the national evaluation in February of this year.

“To give you some data as close as possible to reality, from memory, the number of state education units in Bucharest is somewhere slightly over 400. This means that the number you refer to represents 50%. It is the inspectorate’s obligation to publish the school network, and in Bucharest it certainly exists, I also consulted on their website, but we can provide you with exact data, we have this data, it is very simple to remove it”, said the Secretary of State Sorin Ion after Ligia Deca, the Minister of Education, ignored the question.

The Ministry of Education requested that all schools with an average grade below 7 in the simulation for the national assessment submit the intervention plans to the school inspectorates by March 15.

So far, only ISMB has published the number of schools with these results and a series of recommendations. No county has made public these data, no inspectorate has made public the list of schools with these results.

Sorin Ion, Secretary of State: To give you some data as close as possible to reality, from memory, the number of state education units in Bucharest is somewhere slightly over 400.
