The Russian security services (FSB) announced on Monday that the people arrested on Sunday in Dagestan, in the Russian Caucasus, whom they accuse of preparing an attack, have connections with the perpetrators of the attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, reports AFP.

The Russian National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAK) announced on Sunday the arrest in Mahacikala and Kaspiisk, in Dagestan, of three people who were planning “to commit a series of terrorist crimes”, ten days after the attack near Moscow, which resulted in 144 deaths.

ANOTHER TERRORIST ACT IN THE PREPARATION

The FSB announced on Monday that these people – foreign citizens – “were preparing a terrorist act in public places in Kaspiisk”, a city located near the capital of Dagestan, an unstable Russian republic in the Caucasus with a majority Muslim population.

NAK announced on Sunday the arrest of three people.

But the FSB evokes on Monday the arrest of four people, who were in possession of an improvised explosive device (IED) and automatic weapons.

THE ISLAMIC STATE

The FSB announced on Monday that the arrested persons “were directly involved in the financing and provision of means of terror to the authors of the terrorist act committed on March 22, 2024” at Crocus City Hall.

The attack at this concert hall was claimed by the jihadist organization Islamic State (IS), but the Russian authorities insist on seeing a Ukrainian track.

A total of 12 people were arrested after this massacre, including four alleged perpetrators – originally from Tajikistan, a former Soviet republic in Central Asia where IS is active.

On Friday evening, the FSB announced that it had arrested three “citizens from a Central Asian country” who were planning a bomb attack in southwestern Russia.
