At the end of last week, the Olten police carried out several checks on the county’s roads, and 385 fines were issued, totaling more than 160,000 lei.
At the same time, as a complementary measure, the police officers from IPJ Olt detained 61 driving licenses, of which 36 were detained for exceeding the legal speed by more than 50 km/h, 10 for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substances, and 15 for other traffic violations.
The police also detained 19 registration certificates for driving cars with technical defects.
“In addition, 19 registration certificates were retained for driving vehicles with technical defects or for failure to fulfill legal obligations, and 8 traffic offenses were also found”, according to a press release from IPJ Olt.
During these checks, drivers were discovered driving drunk. Thus, a 45-year-old man from Balș was drunk when he was stopped by the police on a street in the city.
“As part of the activities, on March 30, at around 4:00 p.m., policemen from the Balș City Police stopped for control, on Cireșului Street, in the town of Balș, a car driven by a 45-year-old man from the locality .
Since the driver exuded alcoholic breath, the police proceeded to test him with the breathalyzer, which indicated a value of 1.14 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air. The man was taken to a hospital unit for the taking of biological samples, in order to accurately establish the alcohol level.
