The museum in Carol I Park would be revitalized and declared as an asset of local public interest.

According to the approval report, the museum has a heritage of about 40,000 pieces. Among them are: the steam engines of almost 200 years ago, the sonic engine of Gogu Constantinescu, the installation of the first Romanian laser, the huge Babckock Wilcox boiler used in 1912 at the Grozăvesti thermal power plant, the salt extraction installation used at Salina Praid in 1737, the engine of the first electric tram in the country, the first car with an aerodynamic shape built in 1923 by Aurel Persu, the “Krup” engine from the “Dolphin” submarine, the individual jet aircraft invented in 1958 by Justin Capră, the engine of the IAR 81 airplane ( 1937), Olds Patent “carriage” automobile – 1898.

Over 30,000 volumes of technical, scientific, fiction books and publications are part of the library fund. The documentary fund includes a sound library with over 3,000 clichés on glass, as well as important collections of films, photographs, diplomas, projects from the period 1900-1970.

USR municipal councilor Valentin Necula specified, during the meeting of the Culture Commission, that such a request was submitted to the Government during the previous administration, but that “no response was reached” from the Executive.

“In 2022, the news appeared in the press that this museum will close. I had a discussion with the people at the museum. In reality, there is an underfunding. This museum is administered and is in the patrimony of the state company Electrica Serv, which in turn is a subsidiary of Electrica SA. There are some companies that deal with energy projects, in no case museum management. Looking at their budget from 2022 and 2023 I did not find anything additional to improve this activity in the technical museum area. It’s also normal, if we think about it… It’s a museum; there is a company that deals with wind panels and power generation and other technical things. This is a museum that needs to be managed as such,” he said.
