Weather alert in Romania. Temperatures drop significantly

--

After these last days of March, in which temperatures broke records upon records, reaching over 30 degrees Celsius, the weather will change significantly with “sudden and significant cooling”, announced the head of the National Meteorological Administration (ANM).

After record highs, temperatures drop sharply

“The absolute monthly maximum for the month of March in our country was recorded 72 years ago, on 30/03/1952, when in Odobești we recorded 32.8 degrees Celsius. Here, 72 years apart, we are talking about very close temperatures.

Let’s not forget the records of this morning, because at 40 meteorological stations we recorded the highest daily minimum temperatures for a morning of March 30, since meteorological measurements have been made in our country. I would give, for example, an example with the highest value: Oravița 16 degrees, compared to the previous record, of 13.7 degrees. Also, at six meteorological stations we recorded these values as monthly records from the entire series of observations for this month until now,” says Elena Mateescu to Antena3.

Weather forecast for the beginning of April

With the beginning of April, temperatures will drop significantly, but only for a few days, Elena Mateescu said.

For the interval April 1-8, ANM meteorologists announce, the thermal values, although in a significant decrease compared to the last days of March, will still be higher than those specific for this week, throughout Romania. “Starting from April 2, we will record slightly decreasing temperature values, but still above 20-22 degrees Celsius, especially in the south, southeast and west of the country”, said the head of the National Meteorological Administration .

Also, with the exception of the northwestern regions, where the amounts of precipitation will generally be close to normal, the pluviometric regime will be deficient, especially in the southwest of the territory.
