A 2-year-old child from Neamt drowned in a basin of water.

The tragic event took place in the German town of Gâdinți. The 2-year-old boy had come with his mother to his grandparents, and while the adults were talking, the child was playing in the yard. There was no one to watch him and no one thought that anything could happen. Apparently the little one tripped and fell face down into a basin half filled with water.

When he was noticed, it was the grandmother who called 112 and raised the alarm. The ambulance came to the scene and tried resuscitation maneuvers for dozens of minutes. Unfortunately, it was much too late, and the doctor had to pronounce the death of the only 2-year-old boy.

The police opened a criminal case for the crime of manslaughter.

Authorities are now sounding the alarm and asking parents to supervise their children at all times, especially now that the weather is getting warmer and children will be spending more and more time outdoors. It also recommends that dangerous areas in the yard, a container with water or other potential dangers (prohibited substances, sources of fire), be well demarcated and secured to prevent unsupervised access by children.

“On March 31, the police officers from the Sagna Rural Police Department were alerted by a 53-year-old woman from Gâdinți, regarding the fact that her 2-year-old grandson was found in – a basin of water.

The police went to the scene and determined that, while the minor was in the yard of the house, together with his mother and grandmother, while he was playing, in a moment of inattention he fell face down into a basin of water.

Both his mother and a medical team that arrived on the scene applied resuscitation maneuvers, unfortunately without effect, and the minor was declared dead.

In the case, investigations are continuing regarding the commission of the crime of manslaughter.

Dear parents, the increased temperatures will cause the little ones to spend more time outside the home.

Especially when it comes to small children, it is essential that they are supervised at all times. Even a moment of inattention can lead to serious consequences.

Make sure that dangerous areas in the yard, a container of water or other potential hazards (prohibited substances, sources of fire), are well demarcated and secured to prevent unsupervised access by children.

Children’s curiosity can lead them into risky situations. Teach little ones to avoid these situations and play around an adult.

At the same time, knowledge of first aid procedures can be crucial in emergency situations”, the police release states.
