A part of the pensioners in Timișoara and Timiș may not receive their pensions on time on Monday. Several Romanian Post employees went on strike, approx a result of the company’s refusal to respond to their demands, expressed at the warning strike last month, the strikers say.

The strike affected part of the postal activity, the union leaders announced that some of the pensioners would not receive their pensions on time, of course, we are talking about the pensioners who benefit from the cash payment, to the postal factors.

Through an address sent to the employees, the Romanian Post management announces that on March 27 it started negotiations with the representative union in the company. The discussions would concern the collective labor contract, the increase of the loyalty bonus and the basic salary, within the limit of the salary fund allowed by the legislation.

“The negotiating team submitted at least seven simulations for this budget, so that the SLPR can decide how it wants to distribute the available amount. On the other hand, the request of the SLPR to increase salaries by 400 lei net above the threshold of 3,700 lei prefigured to be the minimum salary per country from July 1, 2024, actually means that the minimum basic salary in Romanian Post should be approximately 4,500 lei, which which would mean a 36% increase over the current minimum basic wage. Even if it were legally possible, which it is not, the impact on salary expenses and implicitly on the financial health of the Company would be disastrous, leading to bankruptcy in less than 6 months. Therefore, this request is NOT realistic! announced the management of the Post Office.

The company representatives also announced that the pensions will be paid on time. It remains to be seen how the situation will play out.
