In the context of Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, starting on March 31 this year, a new system for verifying identity documents was operationalized.
It makes authentication and identity verification easier and faster, as well as multi-database verification.

All structures within the MAI with attributions regarding identification and verification of persons have at their disposal a new electronic means.
The device is developed to make, through an automated, much faster process, the verification of identity and possible mentions, based on an identity document.
This device will be used by the Police, Gendarmerie, Immigration structures, along with the Border Police.
“The police officers of the Argeș County Police Inspectorate will use, along with the other structures, mobile devices or tablets, having installed an application specially developed for this purpose, both in their current activities and at the access points in the institution or at the designated counters the public.
Using these mobile devices, a scan will be made of the document presented by the verified person (such as identity card, passport, residence permit and others). The automated process through the application specially intended for this purpose compares the data presented with those existing in the databases and immediately displays, along with the photo in the databases, information if we are talking about a person who is being watched or who has a ban.
If certain problems are found, the person concerned will be taken to the headquarters of the police unit for further checks.
